Herzog & de Meuron have designed an iconic tower in the New York
skyline. 56 Leonard is a vertical glass expression of sculpted surfaces, cantilevers and sparkling glass.
145 spatially innovative homes visibly stack upon on another to create a cascading 60-story structure, projecting a keenly evolved image of New York living — a Global Landmark.
In an unprecedented collaboration between artist and architect, the tower designed by Herzog & de Meuron is seamlessly integrated with a specially commissioned work by sculptor Anish Kapoor at its base.
The 56 Leonard lobby is nestled on Leonard Street between the Anish Kapoor sculpture on the East side and a vertical garden on the West.
56 Leonard is located at the intersection of Church and Leonard streets in TriBeCa. Rich in culture and history, and home to the finest shops and restaurants, TriBeCa’s romantic and storied streets appeal to a local and global audience, making it one of the world’s most desired and distinctive neighborhoods.
56 Leonard’s neighborhood offerings are coveted: internationally acclaimed restaurants, year-round festivals and events and verdant riverside parks. TriBeCa’s famously rich architectural setting, destination galleries, museums and public art make it the cultural focal point of lower Manhattan.
145 Unique Residences
Interior details at 56 Leonard are both discrete and sculptural—a range of subtly balanced finishes enhances and harmonizes the flow of spaces. The building’s exposed concrete is complemented by a basic palette of champagne window-walls, satin-etched glass, natural solid woods, travertine, Thassos marble, polished metals, black granite, high-gloss black lacquer accents and finished concrete columns that architecturally enhance each living space.
